Payoff Terms

Draft notice: these terms are prepared for product testing and early review. Replace the placeholders and have them reviewed before taking real customer payments.

Who can use Payoff

Payoff is intended for users aged 18 or over who can make their own payment decisions. Do not use Payoff if the commitment amount would create financial stress, if you are trying to control gambling-like behaviour, or if money-based accountability is unsafe for you.

How Payoff works

Payoff lets you choose a weekly or monthly focus goal. You pay a platform fee upfront. You also authorise Payoff to charge your saved payment method later for any unfinished commitment amount left at the cycle deadline, up to the maximum shown before checkout.

Platform fee

The platform fee covers access to Payoff for the selected cycle and is charged at checkout. The platform fee is separate from the commitment amount. The platform fee is not reduced by focus time, but your rights under Australian Consumer Law still apply.

Commitment amount

The commitment amount is the maximum possible future charge for unfinished focus time. Every focused second completed before the deadline reduces the possible future charge. If you complete the target before the deadline, there is no extra commitment charge for that cycle.

No silent repeat

When a cycle ends, Payoff pauses until you choose the next target, commitment level, and cycle. Payoff should not silently create a new commitment cycle without your action.

Failed payments

If a valid deadline charge fails, Payoff may pause access until the outstanding amount is resolved. Payoff should not charge more than the maximum future charge shown and authorised before checkout.

Consumer guarantees and refunds

Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts, or modifies rights you may have under Australian Consumer Law, including consumer guarantees that cannot legally be excluded. If Payoff fails to provide services with due care and skill or otherwise breaches a non-excludable guarantee, you may be entitled to a remedy.

Use responsibly

Only choose a commitment amount you can afford. Payoff is an accountability tool. It is not financial advice, legal advice, medical advice, mental health advice, tutoring, education advice, or a guarantee that you will complete your goals.

Sessions and check-ins

Payoff may pause sessions when the tab is closed, the app is left, or a check-in is missed. Session limits and check-ins are designed to reduce fake focus time and keep the commitment calculation fair.

Accounts

You are responsible for keeping your login details secure. Resetting local browser data does not delete your Payoff account, cancel an authorised cycle, or remove payment obligations already authorised.

Changes to Payoff

Payoff may update its website, features, pricing structure, and terms. Material changes that affect active paid cycles should not change the maximum future charge already authorised for that cycle.
